Simudesign's Lyon Saint-Expury review

Featured Replies

Hi,a quick comment on Gavin Hendrie's review: he remarks repeated on the lack of static aircraft, in fact it's the one thing from the review besides that had good frame rates that I can actually remember. I hate static aircraft, or more precisely, I hate having to remove them from sceneries. Static models seem to be universally hideous compared with the AI models from the likes of Aardvark, EvolveAI and Project AI. Personally I applaud a scenery designer for abandonning them. They are the "old" way to populate airports. I also applaud Simudesign for not clogging up my start menu or desktop with shortcuts I'll never use, but that's another rant.Gavin - do yourself a favour and install some free AI packages from the Avsim library; look for World of AI (WoAI) if you can't be bothered to do it by hand. I guarentee you won't miss the crude statics and it adds a whole new dimension (some might suggest obsession) to Flightsim.L

Hi Longbeer,I shall certainly try out your suggestion and thank you for taking the time to read my review.I'm afraid this argument/issue is very much a matter of 'horses for courses' in that I like to think I'm getting something for my money. What I didn't like was the idea of paying for a scenery addon, only to then add freeware elements in order to populate it to my liking. I particularly didn't like the fact that the simudesign site showed pictures of static aircraft without mentioning they were in fact NOT part of the package. I agree that 3D Statics are often not the most aesthetically pleasing but that doesn't mean developers shouldn't try. As the saying goes, you can't please all of the people all of the time...Regards,Gavin HendrieAVSIM Staff Reviewer
