February 20, 200323 yr A couple rules clarifications, straight from the horse's mouth, if you will:1) NO RESERVING OF FLIGHTS: As soon as the landing/pirep post is made, it is a free baton and whoever claims it first has it. Any reservations are null and void from here on out.2) THE TWO HOUR RULE: This was put into place to ensure that many people could participate. It seems that both here and at flightsim, some people are choosing to ignore this rule. The exception was for over-water flights where you are not presented with an opportunity to land for more than two hours (I.E island hopping, or in Siberia or someplace with not many airports). If you have an opportunity to land, and you know that if you do not take it that you will run over two hours, you must take it.I'm going to say the same thing that I said at flightsim about this:If someone made an "I have the baton" post, and we have not heard back from them when two hours elapses, it's a free baton. If we hear back that they're not at their destination, but only need a few extra minutes to get there and make a post, I would suggest to you that you give it to them, because taking the baton from them before they arrive deprives you of the distance that the would have covered during the flight. Also, pending his reply, I'm appointing Matt Johnson as deputy director of the race over here. Any questions, refer to either him or I. I just needed an additional set of eyes/fingers as I'm really busy and can't monitor this nearly as well as he can. I chose him because he is a moderator, not to play favorites or anything so don't jump on me.I want to congratulate you all on the fabulous progress you have made, especially in the past 24 hours. Best of luck.Have fun with this, above all-
February 20, 200323 yr Francisco Leitao has it currently and is flying from WAMT to WPDL.You can check his status on VATSIM, his callsign is CS-FNL.Paul Meyer - Morris, C09http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...7b45404593a.jpg
February 20, 200323 yr I gotta figure out one of these days how to run and use the VATSIM thingy...For now, I'll just wait for him to show up on radar. :-)Hawkeyez
February 20, 200323 yr Ok, Just don't wait on the runway :)And give me a few more minutes, as i wasn't able to maintain Ground Speed as predicted. Instead of 0115Z my estimate is now 0130ZRegardsFrancisco Leit
February 20, 200323 yr Without using VATSIM per se, you can track his flight easily by downloading ServInfo from here:http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=25028Once started up, simply hit the VATSIM button on the toolbar to get the latest update. Then, view the "All Pilots" tab. You'll see "CS-FNL" with Francisco's name beside it. Click it for the flight progress. You can also switch to the Map tab and watch his flight from there.Take care,Elrond
February 20, 200323 yr Well, I don't think I can take off until you've landed. I've already got my route planned.Just waitin' fer yer wheels to hit the asphalt (or dirt).I've got 01:08Z right now... (am I right?)... so your estimate would put you on the ground at about 8:30pm EST...????Hawkeyez
February 20, 200323 yr Need a ruling...Does the leg have to finish on each continent or can we fly land then fly to the next leg, time permitting...Cause I think I can hit Australia and make it back to one of the Indo islands in the 2-hour time limit. The plan would be to go from WPDL - YTST - WRKK.Hawkeyez
February 20, 200323 yr Gotcha boss...Okay, I'll try for a "touch 'n go" at YTST and then on to WRKK.Do I need to reach outta the cabin and touch the tarmac with my hand (of course at 120knts!) to confirm "touching" Australia...??Hawkeyez
February 20, 200323 yr Hey...WPDL just scrambled an F-14 out to intercept / escort you on in (via VATSim) !!!Hawkeyez
February 20, 200323 yr I'm running the Tomcat escort, I'm on Franciscos 6:00, we're almost there, doing about 180kias.UPDATE, FRANCISCO is on FINAL right now. 5nm out.Paul Meyer - Morris, C09http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...7b45404593a.jpg
