Getting the CIVA INS to work?

Recommended Posts

Guest dkelly

Hi,Thanks again for creating such a great aircraft! My problem is I have a slight issue with the CIVA INS unit and it's integration with the aircraft. I program it, from start to finish, insert all my waypoints, wait for the green light, switch the MSU to NAV, ect, ect. My issue comes when trying to integrate the INS unit with the Tinmouse panel. I couldn't find the INS Nav Mode selector anywhere, and can find no other obvious way to let the INS unit control the autopilot, so I installed it manually. Well, when the Tinmouse project was at version 1.0, this method worked fine, and the heading indicator guided to the waypoints listed on the INS unit. However, once V1.1 was released, this method has not worked, and so far, I have been unable to get the CIVA INS to integrate with the panel. I was just wondering how you guys integrate it into the panel, and how you can tell it to use the unit control the heading as opposed to setting it yourself, i.e. for vectors. I am not 100% familiar with the CIVA gauge either, and any help would be appreciated. I am using version 1.40 of CIVA build 1935 and version 1.1 of the Tinmouse 732.

You should be using the RAD/NAV switch located near the lower right corner of the HSI. Not sure what the CIVA-supplied switch does, but the one built into the panel sets several internal flags that are needed for the INU to control the heading bug. With the switch in NAV and a valid course present in the CIVA INS, control of the heading bug goes to the INS unit. If you then select heading mode on the A/P, it will then fly the headings commanded by the INS.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile
