February 24, 200323 yr I have the following problem..I run FS on a windows 2000 platform with directx 8.0 installed.I also have a geforce 4 TI 4200, great piece of hardware by the way :)Now when I turn on anti aliasing and tri linear bit mapping I think it was in FS some things go wrong. The graphics are all weird and when pressing the ALT key the menu bar does not appear. Its really weird. Now I was thinking the following.. the problem may lie with Directx .8.0 perhaps it does not support tri linear and anti aliasing as it should. Now the right thing to do in this case is install directx 9.0. well I did just that. And FS completely freaked out! All the graphics messed up and acting weird. I had to completely remove direcx 9.0 in order to get it right again. :(Question:Has anyone experienced this as well ?? and how did you solve this problem. Is it a setting that I have wrong in FS or is it something else.I hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance.CheersGerbert.
February 24, 200323 yr http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...orum=DCForumID8This poster has similiar problems. However, DirectX9 is stated to be for Win98/ME/2000/XP. I would look for several causes. One the version level of the graphics adapter drivers you are using, are they specifically for Win2000. Have you updated drivers in the near past or after you installed DirectX9? Did you use the recommended procedures to uninstall/remove prior drivers before you installed the new drivers.Have you updated the drivers for your controller chips, i.e., VIA, Intel, SiS, AMD, ALi. February 24, 200323 yr I have the same problem. However, in my case FS works fine, the graphics look better, but the text presented in the screen looks messed up. Also, the framerate goes down to 6-10 (from 30 locked).I don't know the answer but I'll be glad if anyone knows.Rgds
February 25, 200323 yr My FS2002 menu "Alt" key refused to function when I rolled back to 30.82 drivers. Since then I went back to 40.72, the "Alt" key always brings up the FS2002 top menu. Other wierd problems such as the GPS gauge flashing on and off at the refresh rate of the GPS gauage (about 1 Hz) on the left hand (primary monitor) when it was simultaneously displayed in undocked windowed mode on the right hand monitor also apparenly went away. (So far!!) DX 8.1 and dual monitor setup on TI4600 128mb Asus p4pE 2.4 Ghz Intel.Larry
