April 16, 200719 yr There was a thread once where someone fairly new was surprised how long his take off run at Telluride was, can't remember what he was flying. I loaded up the JF 152 slightly overweight at noon in August and oh boy was that a challenge even getting off the ground. Lotsa fun this sim is.
April 17, 200719 yr Just for fun I once again overloaded that 152 100 lb. over, August afternoon at Telluride. You really have to work hard to get it to and out of that valley at the end of the default runway, that's if you get to the valley safely. Couldn't get above the rim of the canyon for about 10 minutes and not over 53-57 knots in that time. That's with running down the runway at full tilt with no headwind, adding flaps at the last moment, and taking full advantage of the ground effect without banging the gear back down or stalling in the meantime. It's a fun way in FS9 to test yours and the aircrafts limitations and the effects of loading, temperature and elevation. That's one example where FS9 is a good teaching tool. Arguably there are more.
April 17, 200719 yr Nice indeed, I like cross wind landings as well, little bit of gusting winds..a light airplane like the C-152. All the ingredients for fun (in the sim) Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://fool.exler.ru/sm/fly2.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick back harder"
