June 29, 200718 yr I have a Dell 8300 3.0 and I checked my CPU settings in my BIOS. Hyper-threading is disabled. Should I have it enabled or not with FS9 or anything else?thanks
June 29, 200718 yr You can get a little performance gain with hyperthreading andit might reduce stutter slightly; though the effects are small.(cos a single core can get a IO block and that process will not doanything else. Threaded programs (FS9 - to some extent, and SP1patch FSX) can run another thread if an IO-block holds up a process -effect is small though as you still only have 1 cpu)
June 29, 200718 yr HelloI have two of these computers, one is dedicated to FS9 and the other one is for goofing around on. (experiments, internet, etc.)I have never seen a gain using Hyper-Threading in FS.I keep it turned off, as I think it hinders performance. Also, in BIOS, keep the Hard drive set to normal and not performance.Try it out and see what you think, ask ten people and you will get ten different opinions.
