October 18, 200718 yr So I'm reading an article in Plane&Pilot about adjusting to night flying especially if the pilot hasn't done it in awhile...more like true IMC with no visibility, etc. Due to family schedules and the fact that when I fly I use whatever the real time of day is, all my flying the last 6 months has been daytime. I always use Active Sky so it's not like I haven't had a lot of IFR flying and some close to minimums approaches. Last night I found a very lucrative 240nm flight in fseconomy so decided to pick up a few quick bucks :-) Flight was from Lexington KY to just south of Lake Michigan in IL..lot of clouds etc around there last night. Right after take-off the contents of the P&P article came roaring out to me...I'm REALLY out of practice with regard to night flying! Made a fairly ugly approach and not my best landing. Here I just read an article on the dangers of flying at night for the real world pilots and the whole scenario shows up in spades on my sim (FS9). How could I ever get bored with this?? Mike
