POSKY ERJ 145 Bounces on Taxiway

Featured Replies

While taxiing to or from the runway, my plane bounces so bad at times it actually crashed last night, which sent my FSPassengers to the graveyard. It usually happens around 15 kts but it also sometimes bounces when I un-pause the sim while sitting at the gate. It doesn't happen to any other aircraft and it seems to happen no matter what airport I'm at. I first noticed it at KPHL (Simflyers), KATL (FRF), and KBDL (Smith Graphics). It also happens at the default KEWR and KATC, too, so I don't think it's the scenery. Besides, I suppose it could be uneven textures at one add-on airport, maybe even two . . . but THREE?? Am I taxiing too fast? I thought 20 - 25 kts was the max.Anybody else have this problem? Anybody know of an easy fix, or can you give me the correct contact point settings for the aircraft.cfg file. I researched this problem over at the POSKY website, but of course, anything like this that happens can't possibly be the plane (their words) and they don't allow posts altering flight dynamics to their models. Thanks in advance to the group for any help you can provide.

I think I know an answer to this. I had the same problem with the POSKY 757 in some addon airports.I think the problem is that the gear is either to stiff or does not have enough travel in the damper. You will need to play about with the settings in the Aircraft.cfg. The problem with the 757 was the nose gear but it could also be the mains. See example below:Here is a list of what each field of the contact entry means://0 Class//1 Longitudinal Position (feet)//2 Lateral Position (feet)//3 Vertical Position (feet)//4 Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute)//5 Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)//6 Wheel Radius (feet)//7 Steer Angle (degrees)//8 Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)//9 Max/Static Compression Ratio//10 Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)//11 Extension Time (seconds)//12 Retraction Time (seconds)//13 Sound Type//14 Airspeed limit for retraction (KIAS)//15 Airspeed that gear gets damage at (KIAS)POSKY 757 fix//Nose GearOriginal settingpoint.0=1, 55.00, -1.000, -10.275, 1181.100, 0.000, 2.000, 65.000, 0.350, 0.650, 0.560, 4.000, 4.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000point.1 1, 55.00, 1.000, -10.275, 1181.100, 0.000, 2.000, 65.000, 0.350, 0.650, 0.560, 4.000, 4.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000My changed settingspoint.0=1, 55.00, -1.000, -10.275, 1181.100, 0.000, 2.000, 65.000, 0.60, 1.50, 0.80305, 4.000, 4.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000point.1 1, 55.00, 1.000, -10.275, 1181.100, 0.000, 2.000, 65.000, 0.60, 1.50, 0.80305, 4.000, 4.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000Peramiters 8 and 9 are the ones you want. In this case paramiter 8 (Static Compression (feet)) was set to 0.350 feet! Not very much compression here. The damping ratio was 0.650.My new values are 0.6 and 1.5The aircraft still bounces on "invisible" bumps in the secnery but not enough to chash the aircraft. This was just my first try so maybe I could eliminate the bumps altogether.Hope this helpsSimon

Thanks for taking the time to answer my post, Simon! I've been working around it the last few months, but I'll give your suggestions a try.I was wondering if the plane had these problems inherently, or if it was my rig.Smooth skies, my friend, and happy holidays!Chuck B.
