March 17, 200323 yr When do you change over Navigating from one VOR to another when on a Victor Route?Sometimes the symbol for changeover is present...other times it is not. So when it is not present, is it at pilot discression? Thanks all.
March 17, 200323 yr In absence of a VOR frequency changeover symbol on a low altitude chart, the pilot is expected to change to the next VOR midway between the two.Regards,Scott "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
March 17, 200323 yr At the midway point, ie. if there is 120 nm between the VORs, change at 60 DME. Usually a changeover point is put in because of some reception issue; geographical, VOR strength or reliability. Some VORs have limits to radials and distance ( "radials 097 thru 135 unreliable beyond 24 DME," is an example that I have seen. )
