This problem stated after installing FS Acceleration. During engine start the engine smoke is displayed as gray blobs in lieu of normal smoke. I also see similar problems when flying over water, the wave action with the shore is displayed as gray blobs.

Looks like you have missing or corrupted textures.I'd be doing a repair install of FSX.
