How Do You Integrate Rex Or Other Graphic Programs

Featured Replies

I tried to understand how to integrate Weather texture from other developpers into snapshot thanks to the Doc but it's not really clearTell me if I'm wrongIf you have XG everything can be done automatically just have to go to extented integration and click on the button... but for the other ones as REX, FEX how do you manage to make this integration?Do you have to install each texture first on your FS Folder then go and integrate the files into ASA? This could be a real big job to do ...Thank you for your help

You have to install everything you want to with REX, FEX or whatever program: all those programs simply replace various original FSX textures files with custom ones. So you install all possible files you want (clouds, water, skies, etc.) to get a combination which you like and which you'd like to use more often in the future. When you've done that, you can make a snapshot: all (really ALL!) related textures files are copied (not moved or replaced) into a special place. Now whenever you want to use that specific combination of texture files again, you don't have to install them all over again with REX, FEX or whatever, but you can simply use ASA to copy all those files at once, back into the correct directories in the FSX folder, with a simple click of a button. Beware that ALL files are copied, so also default FSX files (in case you don't use REX or FEX for clouds for instance). And also beware that this snapshot contains ONE combination of everything: you can't chose to only let ASA install the clouds of a certain snapshot: it's all or nothing everytime. Also take note that (quite logical) once you've installed a snapshot for a specific flight and you want to use it again for the next flight, you do not have to copy the files again... Each snapshot becomes the default texture set until you install another snapshot or whenever you use REX of FEX to change something.Setting this all up for various weather possibilities is indeed a real big job... And don't forget that ASA copies ALL files for EVERY snaphot somewhere, so this will cost a lot of hard disk space (specially when you use high res textures)!P.S. So in fact there is no real intergration: ASA does not know (and doesn't care) where the textures came from, FEX or REX or default. It simply copies ALL texturefiles that have to do with weather.

Hi mmm,What you can do is use your texture programs with FSX closed and submit your combinations of textures you wish to have. Then use ASA to Snapshot each combination. Then ASA can chose a Snapshot to match the weather conditions. Just install the textures as you were doing before you purchased ASA.Thanks,

Hi,Great! It really should be quick, load a theme/textures, take the Snapshot, Snapshot takes about a minute. Load a new theme/textures, take Snapshot.Take your time and start with a few for each category.
