Hello Tom Gibson

Featured Replies

Just a question Tom, I have your Convair 240 installed and when sitting on the runway at say, Meigs it hops up and down. I know there is an adjustment to this I just can't remember where I saw it. Could you help me on this. I have the other aircraft installed like the Dc6 series of your stuff and the Convair 340's. Just the 240 seems to jump around. Thanks for the great aircraft. Fun just watching the start up's

Hi Frank, Tom may be able to give you an exact fix for his 240, but you could try adjusting the Damping Ratio under Contact Points. #10 (the 11th number out from pointx=)Damping RatioThis ratio describes how well the ground reaction oscillations are damped. A value of 1.0 is considered critically damped, meaning there will be/is little or no oscillation. A damping ratio of 0.0 is considered undamped, meaning that the oscillations will continue with a constant magnitude. Negative values result in an unstable ground handling situation, and values greater than 1.0 might also cause instabilities by being "over"- damped. Typical values range from 0.6 to 0.95.

Ha! learn something new everyday thanks you guys for the nice response. Time to go fiddle....

Hi,I haven't seen this before, but indeed the damping may not be correct. If this is not it, then I would check the CoG height in the Contact Points section. Sometimes editing that will stop planes from jumping around. This kind of thing is hard to work on when it doesn't happen on my computer, and apparently FS acts a bit differently on each computer system! :)Take care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
