? installing graphic snapshot when importing flight plan

Featured Replies

I usually fly a flight plan with GA planes. So I make my flight plan in FSX, save it, then I go to the briefing tab on the ASA window. Click on change flight plan, click import, choose the flight plan, click import, click process and it loads into ASA. Then it ask if you would like to install graphic snap shot textures based on new route? Press ok to install or cancel to leave textures in present state. I have no Idea what this means, I just want to fly with real time weather along my route. I have always just clicked cancel but not sure if I am missing something by not clicking OK. If I install this textures with every new flight plan do they keep filling up my hard drive or do they some how get deleted when I finish session? I have FEX installed too so I am not sure if this makes a differance one way or another. Thanks for any help on this.

Hi,That is OK the way you are doing things. No, they just over write each other in FS.So you startup is:Run FEX and chose your textures. Close it down.Run ASA and plan your flight.Start FS.Thanks,

Thanks Jim for the quick reply. Just curious if I do choose textures will I see any differance? Thanks again.

Hi,ASA comes with no textures so you would need to take Snapshots using your FEX.Thanks,

Hi Jim, I sorry but I am confused again with the graphic snap shot. Should I do this under the graphic tab in ASA where it says take new snap shot and not in the breifing tab as I asked before in my first questions to you? I guess I don't understand why this needs to be done, it seems like I see FEX cloud, water, sky textures already when I fly. Doesn't FEX just replace default textures and that is what would be used, ASA is just telling FSX what weather there is, and would use FEX textures that I have already installed from FEX. Sorry if I am making this more complicated then it is, but it is just not making sense right now, Thanks.

Hi,Not a problem! You have 2 choices:1. Run FEX and chose your textures and load them into FS as you have always done. When ASA askes about a shnpshot just click on cancel.2. Use FEX and load your textures in FS and take some snapshots using ASA. You then assign the snapshot to a weather condition category. Now you can skip the FEX part, process your plan and allow ASA to install the snapshot that most closely matches up with your weather conditions. Yes, on the Graphics Screen and yes you are seeing FEX textures with either choice. Thanks,
