Hi there, complete novice to ASA here :( I see when a route briefing is done an average wind direction and windspeed is shown.... now the questionIf it's shown as say 300 @ 28 knots does this mean it is blowing at 300 degrees @ 28 knots OR does it mean it is blowing at 300 degrees to the general course?eg if one is travelling at 120 degrees it's a 28 knot headwind or would it be 300 degrees to the direction of travel? (60 degrres from the left)Then one has to work out (simply) the general headwind/tailwid.Sorry to ask what seems to be a stupid question but being new :( one has to if never used before.I do get flailing winds at times but have not patched yet, waiting for the official one.John E

Hi,Not a problem asking!From your example: blowing at 300 degrees @ 28 knots and then it is up to you and your route to determine if it is a head wind or tail wind.Thanks!
