Here are the pics I took during the RTW race."First leg": I joined in the leg crossing from Brazil to Africa. I didn't have an Epic LT so I trailed (reeeeeeaaaaalllly trailed... I arrived about 2hrs after the baton!) behind in my PC-12.(leaving Brazil behind us in the night, a long flight ahead)(PC-12 flight deck. You can see Africa just coming into view on the MFD)My first leg as wingman: DRRN to DAAT. My first "official" leg in the race. I flew wingman for Jockha in the King Air 350. Not a cloud in the sky over the Sahara.(Climbing out of DRRN)(After a couple hours over the flat desert, I finally saw some topography as I descended to DAAT)(Safely down at DAAT)The next leg I flew was as wingman for arrvoo as part of the MacRobertson Challenge. OPKC-VIJO(Climbing into a beautiful sunrise. arrvoo and epwatson are ahead)(Found some favorable tailwinds at 15500')(Flying over a layer of ground fog. Beautiful but an indication of the bad conditions at VIJO: team was reporting 1.5nm visibility on the ground)(The ground poking in and out through the fog as I descend for VIJO)(Skimming above the ground fog staying in the good visibility as I waited for arrvoo to make his approach and landing)(With arrvoo safely down the pressure is off, but I still have to land!)(Wheels down and on approach. Had to use the GPS to find the runway in the low visibility)(Runway in sight!)(And landed safely at VIJO)I made another flight as baton carrier in the de Havilland Comet from VTSM-VTSC as part of the other MacRobertson Challenge our team completed. I did not take any pics though, but it was a nice flight just after sunset with Bry as my wing.I had a blast, sorry I could not join everybody for the finale flight to return the animals. Hope to race again next year and defend the tornado trophy!Norman
