March 18, 200917 yr Hello again folks. Now that I have the 73 in the air can someone tell me if the spoilers and speedbrakes are the same thing? I am setting the speedbrakes to Armed with the lever in the Throttle Panel when the tutorial tells me to arm the autospoilers. Is that correct? After landing I cannot get the lever on the Throttle panel to reset to the Down position. Is there a way to do this? The default '/' key does not operate the lever and I cannot see a keyboard option in the PMDG drop down menu. Regards...Ken Regards...Ken Greer EGPH
March 19, 200917 yr Hello. First off. your banner in your signature, in order to get it to display, copy this code in its place.... [img=http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg] On to your question....Spoilers and Speedbrakes are the same control surface. Speedbrakes is the term for the control surface deployed in the air to produce drag. Spoilers is the term for the same control surface deploying on the ground to prevent the aircraft from re gaining lift... ensuring the gear is fully planted on the ground for maximum grip/braking. You should allways ARM the Spoilers for landing... When you land, they should deploy and close once the flaps are taken up and the reversers stowed. From what i remember (used to fly the 737 alot before i switched to FSX) there is nothing else needed... they should close by themselves.... You could allways go out on the wing and beat them down :( P.S. Speedbrakes usually deploy about 3 panels at a limited angle to reduce effect and stress on aircraft. When the spoilers are deployed on landing, all the panels available deploy at the highest angle to produce maximum lift kill.Hope that helps...
