747/FSX

Recommended Posts

Hello allFirst post.I'm relatively new to Flight Simulator having only got my first copy (FSX) at Christmas. Have just bought and installed the PMDG 747 for FSX and I must say I'm pretty impressed so far. I'm always weary of posting things in forums before reading manuals so I have been slowly working my way through the manuals to get the cold start working. Anyway I have the default PMDG flight loaded where you're on the ramp in Seattle. Before I even switch on the battery power there is black smoke eminating from all four engines. This continues through the startup proceedure, taxi, take off, climb out and cruise. The airplane seems to perform fine but surely something is wrong? It's like when a car engine is running too rich? Is it 'overfueling' in car speak? And anyway why does it do it on the ramp before the thing is switched on?I'm sure this is some sort of 'schoolboy' error but any help would be appreciated.Kind regards,James Ross
