The New Tutorial System

As you may know from our announcement over the weekend, AVSIM has opened our new Tutorial System. This is a feature that is tied into the forums system, and offers us a very powerful tool for forum and community members around the world. The tutorial system, unlike the forums, allows us to create categories (or hierarchical managed presentation, if you like) which can cover any and all aspects of flight simulation, hardware, software add-on's, tuning and tweaking, aircraft creation, painting, scenery tips, AI installation and use, navigation system use, and much much more. The possibilities are limitless. All forum member can contribute!One of the most powerful aspects of the tutorial system is that it allows us to import existing forums topics that are indeed tutorials. With one or two key strokes, our admins can bring the existing forum topic into the tutorial system, allowing future readers to quickly search and access that tutorial without having to spend time searching through the forums.We have set up a basic set of categories and we know that they are insufficient to cover all the individual specifics of our hobby and associated topics. There is a whole encyclopedia of information that can be provided, and we hope you will contribute your expertise to what we hope will be the most comprehensive collection of "how to's" in our hobby.If you would like to contribute to the tutorial system, all you have to do is create your tutorial offline, or in real time online, and we'll review it for appropriateness and approve it for public consumption.
