Creative 5.1 strange problem

I have Creative 5.1 loudspeaker system which for a long time has worked just fine. A while back i noticed something strange that started to happen, the volume started to adjust itself. It went all of a suddenly to minimum, then varied up and down and up again.Sometimes it is so bad that they turn them self off!!? :( I really dont understand it.Could it be something wrong with the adapter? It is extremly annoying to play FS when this is at its worst..Anyone got a clue?
