VC Yoke removal

Featured Replies

Hi guys,i just ordered ver 9 and am looking forward to receiving it. My question is there a easy way to remove the 3d yoke in the VC? They usually get in the way and I have a yoke in my hand so I don't like seeing the cartoony looking one as it's distracting. and does the removal, if possible, also work on payware? Many thanks, charles

charles,Yoke removal is a feature the author of the aircraft would have to include when the aircraft is "built". I put it in my VC at the request of a user and will do it on all my future stuff. The feature CAN be adapted to existing aircraft, but would be a bit of work to do and I wouldn't expect many to do it. I do know that this feature will find it's way into many (but not all) default aircraft for x-plane since x-plane's default fleet it currently being updated.

thanks for the reply. Hopefully this becomes a standard. Charles

Hi formula100, and everyone."My question is there a easy way to remove the 3d yoke in the VC? They usually get in the way and I have a yoke in my hand so I don't like seeing the cartoony looking one as it's distracting…"For some reason, unknown to me, either because the designers want to make sure their hard work in making a Yoke is observed, or most have never been at the controls of a real plane, this problem still exists, after all these years of development. I've never been in an aircraft where the controls interfered, to that extent, with the Instruments. It does Not exist, it would not be approved and or used by the pilots. When I fly I never see the Yoke obstructing the instruments, we need to make sure that is the way it should be simulated. There are simple ways of accomplishing this, Removable or extend the length of the shaft. My recommendation, make the Shaft longer, or better yet, No yoke, and give the customer the choice to add it."…and does the removal, if possible, also work on payware?"You can remove it, in most aircraft, but you have to modify the .obj file using a 3D program, like AC3D, if you decide to try it post here and I will try to help you.In X-Plane you can easily build a simple inefficient model, but Detailed features, of how it works are Hidden hand. There are a few guys, like tkyler, that really know the details and there are most, like me, that just understand the gross features.I hope tkyler decides to write a comprehensive, detailed instructions on how all the files interface in a Panel etc., he seems to be able to build very complex and efficient aircraft, by using all kinds of techniques that I did not see described any where, and I read most of the Tutorials.
