Service Pack Installation Problem

Featured Replies

Ok, so when I installed FSX, I got an error 1935 to which I did CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the install, and downloaded the msxm4.manifest file. However, now when I go to install SP1, I get the following error, "This service pack requires the original release of Flight Simulator X. Please install Flight Simulator X and then start SP1 installation again." Can anyone help me out?

I couldn't find a solution for you but recommend you insert the FSX disk and use the "repair" option when it comes up. There's also a program that someone developed that repairs the registry to make sure all the FSX required entries are there. You might do a search for "registry" or FSX registry and see if you can locate the proper program somewhere in the AVSIM forums. I thought it was located in the PMDG forum but cannot find it.Best regards,Jim

I put in the FSX disc and it wanted to do a brand new install. And I used the FSX Registry Repair Utility from TweakFS and Flight1 and both didn't work.

If it didn't offer you the repair function, then FSX is not properly installed. My next suggestion is to completely uninstall, make sure all the FSX directory's are removed after the uninstall. Run a freeware Registry cleaner (a Google search will provide you with a good one), then reinstall FSX. Sorry to hear you are having so many problems!Best regards,Jim Young

Jim,Unfortunately, I have uninstalled, used a registry cleaner, deleted all traces of the value FSX in my registry and my harddrive and then reinstalled only to receive the same error time and time again. I'm really at a loss and am extremely disappointed because I cannot install my addons until the service packs are installed.

Here's a link to the MS Support page that references your problem: MS SupportI have also read that the problem may be caused by anti-virus software that does not allow the install to write to the registry or even adware can cause the problem. Make sure your anti-virus is off but only after a thorough scan for adware.Hope that helps and good luck!

Alright this time instead of getting error 1935, I get error 1722 There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package at (I believe) the same point I would normally get error 1935.

John C

OK then, try this fix from the MS Support site (it is FSX specific): MS SupportMaybe that will help you.

Make sure your operating system is up-to-date and you have the latest Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 installed and Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable. Running the Microsoft Update program should provide you with the latest for your OS. Some have set their system to automatically update and some prefer to do it manually so it's possible your system was not updated.Jim Young
