Video Ram - Does FS9 Use All Of It?

Featured Replies

I'm currently running an ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2.0 that has 2gb of VRam on it. Does FS9 actually utilize all of it, or, do I have to force it to use more somehow. I've noticed that FSX has a bufferpools setting in it's config file, does FS9 have something similar or do I simply adjust all the sliders all the way to the right and hope for the best :)Please advise and thanks!Mark

Nope, FS9 only uses a small part of it.It depends on you screen resolution and the texture sizes how much memory actually is used.If I recall correctly I have read somewhere that 512MB is more then enough memory for FS9, unless you end up in resolutions of 2560x2048 or even larger.

Thanks for the heads up...I am running in, (is it), 1920x1200? It's the highest setting for FS9 anyway.Mark
