Strange audio problems

Featured Replies

I've had the strangest thing happen here in the last day or so - When I load FS2002, the network monitor on the taskbar shows the sim is trying to access the net (and if it can't, it takes about 30 seconds just to see the splash screen). When the games does come up, I've lost all broadcast from the rear speakers. I'm using an ASUS A7N8X mobo with the onboard sound. This did just the same when I had my old config of an A7V333 and a SB Audigy MP3+. I'm starting to wonder if it's something I added in to the sim in the last 24 hours or so (it took a while of simming since the new mobo install last week before this showed up last night).I also noticed that some auto-exec installer re-configured my fs2002.cfg file and automatically put an an 'old modules' section bypassing FSSound.dll. I re-enabled it, but with no avail.Anybody have any ideas?Scott

Several things come to mind: First, virus!! Second, if you have WinXP and download update Internet Explorer Q813489 and have your virus protection software loaded, you may see large wait times. MS is proportedly working on a fix.I recommend you update your virus files, run a full, deep virus scan. Second, you can uninstall the above update but it may leave you vulnerable or you can unload/exit your virus software. If you have FSSound.dll ver1.5.0.1 dated 11/12/2001, you shouldn't need the it in the old modules section.

Thanks for the help - I traced it down to major problems caused by my registry cleaner. Those things cause more problems then they are worth! I just re-installed windows from my DriveImage backup, and I will reload the sim fresh(thankfully, I backed up all my planes!)I always shut down my active virus scan when I start the sim, it just makes the whole thing run faster...Scott
