June 13, 200916 yr Hi Jim,I made another attempt today. This time I set no global wx, just the old style. The force wx was set. Metar reading at destination was wind calm, few at 6400, 30/24 Q1010. The map was showing that, the ASA ATIS too, but the despiction was just the same as departure: 120/10, BKN 500, BKN 1000, BKN 5000, 25/23, Q1013. Vis was 9999 everywhere, so doesn't matter. I went looking inside FS weather and found out that the "global" depiction was just unchanged since departure (I guess) but the station specific was different: 120/10, BKN 25000, 25/23, Q1013. Now, it was wrong anyway, but why wasn't it depicted? And considering that wx force was set, it shouldn't even interpolate with near stations. By the way, this airport hasn't got an ATIS station, so it was interpolated anyway, but I guess that's no difference. What was written wasn't depicted at all. The airports were 800 miles distant. At least RC can work well with this settings. Please do not take this as a criticism, I'm just trying to help and maybe understand why it happens. I know you're still working on SP1, so hopefully you can sort something out from this.Cheers,Fede Federico Bellato
June 13, 200916 yr Hi,If the airport is not also a weather station, the weather will still be interpolated, whether you force the destination or not. When you got to the destination was the weather FEW at 6400 or the BKN BKN BKN? I mean visually, in FS?Thanks,
June 13, 200916 yr Author Hi,If the airport is not also a weather station, the weather will still be interpolated, whether you force the destination or not. When you got to the destination was the weather FEW at 6400 or the BKN BKN BKN? I mean visually, in FS?Thanks,Visually it was bkn bkn bkn, just like the departure airport. I understand that if the airport has no station it will be interpolated, but I guess it should depict the interpolation I see in the program's report window, right?Fede Federico Bellato
June 14, 200916 yr Hi,Next flight try no global and no force wx. I am trying to see if it is the no global or the force wx setting. Thanks,
June 14, 200916 yr Author It was no global already, so I assume it is the force wx. I'll try unchecking it, thanks.FedeP.S. I noticed that the visibility smoothing remains checked if you disable the DWC. It won't warn you. Is it a bug, or what? No difference? Because when you flag it on, the message appears telling you that also DWC will be enabled, but the opposite doesn't happen. Federico Bellato
June 14, 200916 yr Author Ok I tried, and this was the result:the weather was different from departure, though it was wrong anyway: METAR reading was ,LSZH 140950Z 21003KT 150V290 CAVOK 25/14 Q1020 NOSIG, depiction was CALM (wind at 2) 9999 F4400 15/5 Q1013, but read wat happened then. I was approaching, almost flaring, when a nice wake turbulence came on my way, causing me to crash (nice and real depiction of wake, well done! :) ), the flight reloaded at the same position approaching the flare, and the weather was correctly set! So I went reading the ASA log and it stated: -Crash Detected... Resetting Weather Mode and Location... -FS location change or refresh detected... resetting depiction processes After this it was almost correct, QNH 1020 and temperature 23 (this was the first temperature initially set by ASA at first depiction, always reading from the log) wind variable at 2. To summarize, this flight had NO global weather, NO force destination WX and flight plan inserted. There is just one thing I still need to do , and it's to simply load FS and ASA and fly somewhere randomly, with no flight plan, to see what I get.Hope this helps.Cheers,Fede Federico Bellato
June 14, 200916 yr Author Nothing, I'm sorry. The METAR and the report/map say one thing, but what I have depicted is different, from temperature to QNH to wind. I tried flying in Germany to nowhere, randomly, and checked the various FS ATIS stations I was approaching with ASA map open on the second monitor, and they reported two different conditions. To check better I also had the red line on top of screen in FS showing the wind. Hope you can sort this out. Tell me if I have to try something else.Fede Federico Bellato
June 14, 200916 yr Hi,If you could, take a screenshot of the Options screens: General, Cloud, Wind, and Visibility and e-mail them to jim(AT)hifisim.comThanks,
June 14, 200916 yr Author Jim,mail sent. You should have everything you asked for.Fede Federico Bellato
June 15, 200916 yr Author Hi Jim, did you find anything strange with my settings? Unfortunately I have to drop the DWC, too many issues with RC and AI aircrafts, too. So I have to stick with the "old style" engine in ASA. I can't understand why it depicts correctly at first load and then it seems like it is frozen and sets what it wants disregarding the METAR reports.Fede Federico Bellato
June 16, 200916 yr Hi,No, nothing in your settings. Let's see what the next SP release does for you. Thanks,
