VoxATCX / KSAN

Featured Replies

I live in Los Angeles, and love to fly out of KLAX. I've used voxatc for 4 years now and recently upgraded to voxatc x. Anyhow, my first ILS flight from KLAX to KSAN. At LAX, unless the weather here is crazy, all planes take off 24L/24R/25L/25R and land the same. Ok, so to get that I have to change the wind direction in VoxATC X. Thats fine.Thing is, when I do that, well, naturally, at KSAN it has me landing on rw 27, as opposed to rw 09.Problem is, I can never, never get the glideslope on 27. I can always get it on 09 no problem. VOR Loc works either way, but not the GS. Both 27 and 09 show the ILS/DME as 110.9I flew once at night, and the runway lights for KSAN seemed to indicate (at least, in FS's mind) that you can ONLY land via 09.I looked in an old facility directory I had and according to it indeed both are 110.9 but heres what it shows. (This is a real directory, although from 2004 heh)ILS/DME 110.9 I-SAN CHAN 46 RWY 09 CLASS IA LMM BOING NDB LOC unusable byd 20 degrees rgt of course.ILS/DME 110.9 I-UBR CHAN 46 RWY 27. (LOC ONLY). unusable byd 25 degrees N of course.Ok, so what FS is doing MIGHT be correct? I'm just not sure how to fully read the information that the (real) directory is listing. Obviously there is a different, can anyone explain it to me? Maybe there is no GS for 27? And thus, when I get down to the REDIN intersection and start to get vectors for ILS rw 27, I then have to press 0 and in the VoxATC window chose 2 to ask for 09. (Due to the wind setting). That works, but most of the time I end up landing on 09 as AI (set by voxatc, I have FS's flight traffic set to 0) traffic lands on 27.Any and all info is appreciated!Thank you!Matt

Greetings Matt,As you suspected, there is nothing wrong with FSX related to the displaying of the GS for RWY27 at SAN. Due to the terrain/obstacles on the departure end of 27, the Feds never certified this approach for a full ILS. Its a LOC 27 nonprecision approach with a published MDA of 640'.Im currently studying VOXATC X and contemplating a purchase. I have a Radar Contact 4.3 installed however rarely use it. My benchmark for an IFR capable ATC system is one that integrates AIRAC cycles and issues clearances based on those proceedures. Perhaps Ill be waiting a bit longer. Cheers,Ryan
