Changing WAV files in the engine Sound folder,

Featured Replies

Q1 I would like to change the "start-up"sound of a Merlin engine,by substituting a WAV file taken from another sound folder.Do I have to edit the Sound c.f.g. file or can I make a substitution?Q2 The default sound file has 4 WAV which I assume are used at the "start":1 stangstart2 stang1cst3 xstang1cst4 xstangstartThe #3 file(which I think has the best start-up sound) is never used.Is it possible to edit the c.f.g file to play this sound.Rodger.

Seems like it would be easy to do. Try it and see...backup the sound.cfg first....but i guess u already know that :) For example:"[ENGINE_EXT]type=3flags=8viewpoint=2xfilename=xdauphyxfilename=dauphin_c_x"Just edit the the filename and rename the .wav file. Seems like that should work.=Swiv=

At the risk of making it look like I think you're ignorant :) - are you sure this sound is never used - you have to be outside the a/c during startup to hear it - since unless I'm sadly mistaken its an "x"ternal sound.Regards,Mark

Mark,Thanks for your reply.I have listened for this sound when in "outside view" startup..but have never heard it.It's the "deep throat"cough sound that a Merlin makes when starting. My present startup sound seems "tame' to the one I prefer.Rodger.

Thanks for your reply.I will give your suggestion a try.I am gradually overcoming my fear of fiddling with c.f.g.files."Nothing ventured nothing gained'Rodger
