Did you place the library BGL in an active scenery folder? After that it should be loaded and the object will appear in the OPT tool as well. But be aware that it is not displayed with the friendly name, the GUID is displayed in the list.

Arno thankyou so much for responding. I had not done as you said but now that I have there is no change. The GUID list contains 4 sets of 10 characters separated by commas and all finishing with an 'h'. None of them is remotely like my object GUID which is 36 characters long and has hyphens in various places.I created a 'my scenery' folder under 'Addon Scenery' and made sure it was activated (it appears at the top of the list).I can't decide if my 64 years have made me stupid or not!! Still need help. Best regards

Hi,Those GUIDs are a bit annoying indeed. For some reason MS choose to display them in the FS2004 style in the OPT, not in the FSX style that we are used to now.Maybe it is easier to use another placement tool? A nice freeware alternative is WhisPlacer.

Hi Arno,I downloaded and installed WhisPlacer, managed to get my library and object displayed under 'Library', exported using 'automatic' but for the life of me could not select my object to place it; I kept getting a huge default "edwards" hangar whenever I selected 'add object'.Finally, I wrote (on the 15th or 20th attempt!!!) a placement xml which eventually became compiled into a BGL, placed that, the library bgl and the dds texture into 'addon scenery/scenery and texture and voila! However, this is a very long method and I should really like to get WhisPlacer (or me!) to work correctly. Any more help would be much appreciated.Brian

Hi Brian,When you place a new object the default is indeed the hangar from Edwards. But one the dialog with all the object properties you should see a screenshot of that object (or else it shows a default images) and the name. If you click on that you get a list of all libraries and the objects in them available. From there you can browse to your library and select the object you want.Hopefully this helps,

I'm starting to be afraid that you think I must be really stupid, but I still cannot get an object selected, even from a default fsx list.If I choose Tools/Browse Library/FSX Default/Airport Object I get a page of thumbnails which, if I left click or ctrl left click one, causes it to be highlighted. It is there that I get stuck. I can't see how to place that highlighted object into fsx because the 'edwards' hangar never goes away and that is the object which always appears in fsx when I choose 'add object'. Clearly I am missing some vital step. Arno , I am sure you are a very busy man but if there is any way you could provide a keystroke by keystroke 'parrot fashion' procedure, I would be eternally grateful.Brian

Hi Brian,After you place the new object (the default hangar will appear), you need to double click on the object on the map. This will open the properties of that object. In them you will see the thumbmail on the right and by clicking on that you will see the list of all available objects where you can choose from.
