July 5, 200916 yr From what I can tell, the end user licensing agreement for FSX only allows one copy of FSX at a time on one computer. Can anyone verify this? I am building a new PC and was hoping to put FSX on it without having to uninstall it from my old PC but I don't think activation will work if I don't uninstall it from the old PC. So, if I want to install FSX on my new PC and keep the old copy, it looks like I would have to buy another FSX disk and Acceleration disk.BTW, while we're on the subject, I know software companies must make money but the idea that I am restricted to one copy per one PC in this day and age of multiple PC's per household seems ridiculous. It really is hard to do the right thing when some of these companies try to stick it to us so bad. It's no wonder that software piracy is alive and well when companies have such a degrading attitude towards the 'legitimate' end user.
July 5, 200916 yr Actually you are allowed two, but there is a minor caveat, one of them has to be for the purpose of messing about with the SDK. Since it would be hard to prove that you were not using one for that purpose, it means you can get away with having two installations from one copy, and if you spend ten seconds using one of them to actually do some SDK stuff, then you would in fact be completely within the rules.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 5, 200916 yr Thanks Al, I'll give it a try then and see if it will install and activate on the new system. I read the licensing agreement but must have missed that part about the SDK.
July 5, 200916 yr FSX EULA: Licensed Device. The licensed device is the device on which you use the software. You may install and use one copy of the software on the licensed device. Except where this software is sold with development tools, this software is for entertainment purposes only. Where this software is sold with development tools, it may be used with those development tools as well as for entertainment purposes. In any event, this software cannot be part of an approved training program under the standards of the FAA or any other regulatory agency. Use of this software or any part of it to transfer data to another program not related to this software is prohibited.Since you get the SDK with the pro version of FSX, then it is 'sold with development tools'.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
