July 8, 200916 yr I'm running FSX under Vista x64 with a multimonitor system:3 x 17" (1280x1024) LCD connected to graphiccard 1 - output 1 via TH2GO digital 1 x 24" (1920x1200) LCD connected to graphiccard 2 - output 11 x 19" (1280 x1024) LCD connected to graphiccard 2 - output 2The two graphic cards are both NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+. The system is running ok, I use full screen view. When only VC on the 3 x17" monitor the FPS is between 20-50, I'm very happy with that.If I add instrument views (panels) on both 24" and 19"monitor the FPS reduces to 5-25, so I try to get a better performance.Doing that I wondered some entries in the FSX.CFG file.I see that there are 5 display devices (or video card entries) instead of the expected 3 !!IS this normal, anyone have any simular experience ???? What does the numbers .1 / .0.1 / .2 eg. mean ?My FSX.CFG:[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.1]Mode=1920x1200x32TriLinear=1[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.2]Mode=1280x1024x32TriLinear=1[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0.0]Mode=1280x800x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0.1]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.1.0]Mode=3840x1024x32[MULTIPLAYER]
July 8, 200916 yr Author I FOUND ANOTHER DISPLAY DEVICE ENTRY (total = 6) so the FSX.CFG contains :[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0]Mode=3840x1024x32TriLinear=1[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.1]Mode=1920x1200x32TriLinear=1[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.2]Mode=1280x1024x32TriLinear=1[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0.0]Mode=1280x800x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0.1]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.1.0]Mode=3840x1024x32In the settings only the first 3 entries are shown.
July 8, 200916 yr Delete all of them, even the headers then restart the sim and reset your display preferences. This duplication happens everytime you change card or device driver. There should be only a single entry but FSX will automatically create a new one.
