July 13, 200916 yr Please be aware I have been tweaking FS9 since the day I got it 2004. The latest updates and driver updates have been affecting my system in a negative manner. My latest graphics card update causesmy system to crash while the one released earlier in this year, my not be as clear, but never crashes the system. My monitor was updated several times in the last year but I checked it last night and the update was from 2001. I told the system to look for the newest update which was already sitting on my hard drive from a recent download. My cfg file of FS9 was tweated and update last Nov 2008 on my newest computer but had my old computer configurations from 6 years ago. I have restored my computer 3 times due to viruses but not beyond a year's time. I have purchased several payware planes and scenery and each time I go through some new problem. My only conclusion, at this time, isall the updates and add-ons are adjusting things I do not want them to adjust. This is the main reason I donot like self installers. It is great for the novice but hard for people with some experience finding out where everthing is being place and what changes are being made by the new software.Carl Perry
July 13, 200916 yr Carl,Since you did all of that the last 3 years, I guess you also re-set your CMOS after each hardware / monitor / HDrive adds or changes? Just wondering. It may not be the selfish installers fault. I myself would completely start fresh, Windows, FS9 and all programs. Clear all the garbage out. RE-FORMAT HDrives, the whole enchillada. But that's just me. (If you do this, don't forget to re-set your CMOS first (before hardware installs)). Cheers.Chuck BNapamule

July 13, 200916 yr Hello, . I did the CMOS thing only once a long time ago. How do I do it now, I have forgotten.Cleanning the CMOS is usually performed by moving a jumper on the motherboard. This procedure is normaly explained in the motherboard documentation with a explaination text and a drawing of the location-number of the jumper to move.Regards.Gus.
