July 14, 200916 yr Hi: I know nothing about imaging as it relates to the scenery files used in FltSim. I fly FSX and I have some scenery files (actually several hundred) that are .bmp files that I want to covert to mipmaps and see how they perform compared to the bmp files when loaded into FSX. I was told that for this particular scenery, mipmaps would work much better - so I want to try it out. I have Microsoft's Image Tool program from the SDK installation. I have done much reading on this but can not get a detailed description of exactly how to do this. I opened a single .bmp file and said create mipmaps but when I save it it appears as the same file - no different from the original. Must be doing something wrong. Also, I really don' t want to do this one file at a time so is there a way (need specific instructions please) to do this with a command all at once? Thanks for your help. Al
July 14, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi,Many BMP files for flight simulator already contain mipmaps (they are extended textures). If you open them in ImageTool you can see if this is the case or not. If they are not present you can indeed add them with the tool as well. Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.
