DBS Walk and Follow installation

Featured Replies

I posted a similar thread about a month ago...I downloaded the DBS Walk and Follow program (FSX) twice now, hoping the second time it would work. But still no luck. I received feedback from DBS help and someone else that included different DLL file codes. Neither of those worked. Did anyone else have problems installing this program? (Nothing appears in add-on menu when running flight sim.)I'm considering uninstalling FSX and everything else and starting from scratch.

I had the same problem when i installed this a time ago. I emailed them and they sent me a solution that worked. It

As i said before, here is the entry in dll.xml:

 <Launch.Addon> <Name>Dbs WalkAndFollow</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <DLLStartName>module_init</DLLStartName> <DLLStopName>module_deinit</DLLStopName> <Path>Dbs\Dbs.waf.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon>

The path may change depending where you installed WAF.Look if it existis in the file. If not, put it in.Cheers,

It seems that there isn't a dll.xml file. See attached screen shot of the files I downloaded yesterday.

dll.xml is an FSX file ............ not DBS WAF.Do a search in your computer to look after it. Before you do any updates, be sure to do backup of this file.

I found dll.xml (C:\Documents and Settings\Flightsim\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml), and I created a backup.Before I change it, here's what it shows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252" ?> - <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>dll.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> - <Launch.Addon> <Name>Object Placement Tool</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon>- <Launch.Addon> <Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon>- <Launch.Addon> <Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon>- <Launch.Addon> <Name>Dbs WalkAndFollow</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <DLLStartName>module_init</DLLStartName> <DLLStopName>module_deinit</DLLStopName> <Path>Dbs\Dbs.waf.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document>I noticed that the code you sent me is already located in the file below the second-to-last "<Launch.Addon>" So, should I delete everything above it? Also, how do I change it? It seems I can't erase or overwrite...Thanks.

No, don

I think one of the problems might be the path that includes reference to "Object Placement Tool" and "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK." I uninstalled the SDK software because I wasn't using it (I believe it's the mission create kit). Afterwords I re-installed WAF and it still shows SDK in the path. Attached are two images of the dll files that might better illustrate this (or shown as screen shots below, one on top of the other). The first one shows the new code that DBS sent me after I contacted them about this problem. (Notice it's shorter than the one below it.) The second one is the code I shared in my previous posting, although this screen shot makes it easier to decipher. Both files reference the SDK. Do I need to have the SDK software installed? (When it was installed, I could see the "object placement tool" in the FSX menu, but nothing was under it.)Lastly, what is the correct path for where the dll file should exist? DBS said it should be in here:C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX(BTW, I think DBS gave up on me. They no longer return my emails.)Thanks!
