July 17, 200916 yr I have been considering purchasing the 800/900 series. I already have the 600/700 series. I was wondering if anyone could supply a quick recap of what is "really" new vs a repackage or marketing-speak and it is worth the extra dollars? My areas of interest aren't really around the modeling of flight characteristics as I am not a 737 pilot so I won't know the difference. I am thinking more from a standpoint of having the 600/700 series, is there a set of reasons that would make this add-on something to really consider worthwhile? Thanks.John
July 18, 200916 yr You do know that they're making a whole new 737NG, right? It'll be a while though before we see it. >12 months if I had to guess. The difference with the 800/900 add on for the old NG is well worth the purchase. The panel is much better over the older FS2002 looking panel the 600/700 had. Also, the big improvement for me was the TCAS II. I believe the MCP had a couple more modes (e.g., SPD intervention) and the FMC was improved some. I can't remember all the other improvements but they were worth it for me back then. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
July 18, 200916 yr The real improvements off the top of my head are:-Working TCAS, essential for online flying-SPD and ALT intervention modes on the MCP-Cost index is modeled more realistically in the FMC-You can configure the panel to airline specific configs, ie Southwest's EFIS/MAP config-Much nicer panel textures-Dynamic VC, clickable switches-You get the 800 and 900 models, always nice to have in the hangar if you feel like taking them for a spin.
