July 19, 200916 yr Why hello all, I guess I'm in the newbie category and as such would like some help from anyone here. You see, before the server got hit and the forum closed down I got the Tupolev Tu-144 by Thomas Ruth and Claudio Mussner. I absolutely love this aircraft, It's fun and challenging to fly and looks amazing. Now that I have sort of learned how to fly her I wished to delve deeper into the more automated systems and finally learn the ILS navigation system. So I set myself up and I'm ready to go and for the life of me I can't get past one of the stages in setting the darn thing up.If anyone has flown Ruth and Mussners Concordski you'll probably know that the plane comes with some very good tutorials but I still can't get it to work. The problem occurs when I enter the coordinates and the last number isn't a multiple of 10. At this point the tutorial tells me to press a specific button on the ILS console so I can change the value... But when the button is pressed I can't input anything at all and the coordinates are zeroed. If I change back to the first input mode my previous coordinates have been stored unchanged. The entire procedure is as follows after the "Present Position" has been set and you proceed with the way-points:1, DEST-DATA2, Choose an open "Memory Position" (in this case 02)3, Input way-point coordinates, in this case N55*37.78'. Since the last value can only be set to a multiple of 10 I am advised to set it to 80.4, Click TTD (time to destination)5, Input the coordinates (in this case 553778) and click enter.6, repeat 2-5 for all waypoints.Step 5 will not work. Nothing works in TTD mode, I tested every button. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.Would someone please help me with this? I so very much wish to master this wonderful aircraft. For those who are curious about the plane I will attach a link with a review here and for those who want the aircraft it is available on flightsim.com.
July 20, 200916 yr I presume that was a typo and you meant INS (as in Inertial Navigation System). If that's the case, then it is probably similar to the Litton INS which is in several western aircraft of the same period as the Tupolev, and if that is true, then you are in luck. The CLS DC-10 and the CLS 747-200/300 also has that type of INS, and you can download the manual and tutorials for that from the CLS website, even if you don't have the aircraft (I think I'm correct in saying AVSIM's own Angelique Van Campen wrote that tutorial, although I might be mistaken there). Since it is presumably the same kind of INS, it would be of use.Alternatively, there was a freeware Litton INS kicking around on the net somewhere (intended to be added as a gauge), and it came with some documentation as I recall. You could do a search for that and it would probably also help.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
