July 21, 200916 yr I have just installed the ASA SP1 update to my remote computer using WideFS. Prior to installing the update I had ASA running fine with both FS9 and FSX. Connecting the updated ASA to FSX is no problem but connecting to FS9 via WideFS produces the error message 'Database Write/Corruption Problem - Your station database files could not be updated' when I click on OK the program shuts down.Glen Glen
July 21, 200916 yr Hi Glen,Check the shares on the server folders and make sure that they are both read and write enabled. Please let us know. Thanks,
July 21, 200916 yr Author Hi JimThanks for your helpI have rechecked the sharing options of both the FS9 folder and the Document and Settings/Application folder on the Server (FS9) computer and all appear fine. I was using ASA literally minutes before upgrading to the SP1 update. I do not have any firewalls or antivirus software on the client computer, all I have done is install the SP1 update which seemed to install OK.Can you point me to any files that may have been affected by the update that would cause this problem. I have often downloaded updates as they appear on your website with no problems whatsoever. As the update did not effect the server computer I assume the problem must lie with the client computer. Just for info I also have vasFMC and FS Commander on the client PC and both communicate with FS9 normally via WideFS so if it is a sharing problem I don't know where ?Glen Glen
July 21, 200916 yr Hi,We have updated one or more of the four data files and we need to write this file into the 2 shared folders on the server. Also check and make sure your firewall is not blocking things. Sometimes an update makes it look like a new program to the firewalls. Thanks,
July 22, 200916 yr Author JimI have just spent the morning going through various internet tutorials on home networking and file sharing. I have rechecked all the FS9 folders on the server and all are selected to file sharing and read/write. I have gained access to all the FS9 folders from the client computer via My Network Places and all the FS9 files can be accessed. The problem starts when the main ASA interface reaches "Checking internal database files" it hangs there for a bit then produces the error message on my first post. I do not have any firewalls on either the server or client computers. As I don't know how your program accesses these database files, through WideFS or the Home Network I don't know what to check next.ASA worked fine before the SP1 update and and all other client based programs (vasFMC, FS Commander) work narmally. I have used all your weather programs since AS6 on a client computer with no problems at all, so I'm stumped why the SP1 upgrade is causing this problem.Glen :( Glen
July 22, 200916 yr Author Fixed it !!You were totally right - My main FS9 folder on the server computer had two user names on the Sharing Permissions screen, one was me (full control) the other was Guest. I forgot the guest was probably my client computer and the permissions for this were read only, after ticking the remaining permission boxes, ASA 433 loaded normally.Sorry for this it was totally my mistake :( RegardsGlen Glen
