July 22, 200916 yr Commercial Member CR-1 Software has released the Polikarpov I-16 "Rata" for FS2004.As noted in an earlier post Tom Wood sold the SimTech name but is back building quality FS addons as CR-1 Software Ltd. and the first out the hangar door is the Rata. Very advanced for it's time, it was the first monoplane fighter with retractable gear (1933).One version, four high-res paints, a detailed 2D panel (by Lobo) and detailed (non-clickable) VC with Russian gauges (by MoparMike) - the model is available for download at various sites worldwide but for us the most familiar are SkyUnlimited and Simviation although it should be showing up elsewhere soon.http://www.skyunlimited.net/ (Link is on the right side of the page)http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?ID=88&page=1000Don't expect this to be a cake-walk flyer... it's tricky (no flaps, limited trim, twitchy like the real Rata) and Tom Falley's airfile is a very good representation of this little Russian beast. WOW!!! Nice one! and quite challenging! I have flown other flight models said to be challenging and wondered what the fuss was about - but this thing is like trying to fly a hyperactive bouncy-ball on Red Bull!Seriously gnarly stuff! http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...ad.php?t=20019For a good pre-flight study, real-world test pilot Dave Morss' report can be found here:http://www.ksql.com/myriad/warbirds_poly.htmI hope you enjoy it as much as I have while doing some of the beta-testingRob "To some the sky is the limit.
