July 24, 200916 yr Well this recently happened after I installed the SP1 update - doesn't matter what plane I'm in or where I go, whenever I get up in the air I get this stupid glitch It generally happens anywhere from 4000-17000 feet My computer is 4 gb ram 2.66 ghz duo core processor, nothing good for graphics I think its like G31/33 intel chipset or something.. anyways never did this before and it just started after I installed Sp1And note - it doesn't have anything to do with weather (clouds) since It even happens if I clear all weather

It really doesn't look like a cloud problem but a terrain mesh issue. The complete whiteout does not look like clouds to me! I've never experienced or seen or heard anything like this before. You are not getting very good FPS though using default aircraft. I'm guessing it has something to do with your Scenery Library. Did you install a scenery addon? Is Ultimate Terrain installed (if so, start up the Setup Tool then exit out)? The FSX SP1 version cannot see memory greater than 2GB so make sure you have modified the FSX.exe to allow this and you have set the /3GB switch per the instructions contained in the following link: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041 (SP2 changed the FSX.exe to allow memory to be seen greater than 2GB). While you're looking at the Scenery Library, make sure the "Empty scenery cache on exit" is NOT checked. Sorry I don't have a specific solution. Hope you fix it soon!Best regards,Jim Young

I'm running vista 64 bit - I unchecked the scenery cache so I'll see if that helps anything , would installing sp2 fix this problem in your opinion? Remember this problem only arose after I installed SP1EDIT - That didn't help anything, I got another pic though of what it looks like (once again sorry the crap quality.. )

Of course it doesn't apply to 64 bit systems. Not sure what you mean w/the edit comment. What did u do?What happens when you uninstall SP1?What graphics card is installed? Nvidia 8800 w/latest drivers?Hopefully someone will see what's causing the anomaly. Sorry I can't help more.Jim Young
July 25, 200916 yr Hi All,It's the ugly haze layer in FSX. Use either X Graphics or Active Sky Advanced to get rid of it.Thanks,
July 25, 200916 yr You need to go into Options, Display, Settings, and in the 'Weather' tab, tick the 'Detailed Cluds' button, then move slider to 'Medium' coverage. Then go look. Is it cleared up a little, with scattered clouds, but not any 'haze' layer? (Look at Pic 2).If you still have a 'haze layer' then you need to do 2 things. Go to World, Weather, tick 'User Defined' button, then click 'Customize', then 'Advanced' and go set clouds to 'Cirrus', '18,000 to 28,000', 'Few (2/8)' (or, 'Broken (6/8) for more). Then click 'Visibility' tab and set to 20 miles. Go look. Should be fixed now.Chuck BNapamule
