July 28, 200916 yr Are there known issues with Vista 64 bit and sound? I am having a heck of a time working out my sound on FSX. Sometimes I can hear the engines run when they aren't, sometimes there is no APU sound when I know one is built in, Sometimes I can't hear the panel click noises. I'm having a heck of a time getting this stuff to work right. I have XP Pro, Vista 32 and Vista 64 , wondering if I should go back to the old.
July 31, 200916 yr I just saw somebody ask this the other day. They said they fixed it by changing the sound style from 5.1 to stereo (I assume in FSX settings). Tom Perry

July 31, 200916 yr Couple of possible issues:1) driver (not just for the sound chip, but the motherboard chipset as well in my case)2) speaker wiringMy motherboard has a 7.1 capable chip with so many outputs it reminds me of a 50's phone switch. To make things worse, the driver lets me re-map the outputs to just about whatever I want, which is, as I found out, not in fact what I wanted and just confused the issue even more. I now have a 5.1 headset with the proper connections and all is working great. The biggest issue was to get the subwoofer mapped to the main channel as I don't have a subwoofer on the external speakers. Ensure your speaker type matches what you have connected in control panel, and how the outputs are configured. My realtech driver shows a graphical representation of what I have connected, and what's connected as well down at the jack level, and can ask you what you just plugged in to verify correct detection.Hope this helps,

July 31, 200916 yr To actually answer his question, yes there are known issues, unresolved, with sound in v64. The actual problems symptoms are that I hear the engines fine and flaps and so and but added sounds such as APU , call outs, marker warnings and the like were unable to hear. I've tried every adjustment possible and the only cure I found was to keep things stereo. But the truth is from music on my computer to games I really can't tell the difference.
