Moving Runway at Svalbard, Norway?

Featured Replies

A friend was round at my house the other day, and being a keen fan of Norway, recommended I take off at Svalbard, which is an island, owned by Norway, close to the arctic circle. However - When I was flying there, the ground textures outside the runway seemed to move in a really odd way, when I moved the camera. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I proceeded to take-off anyway. Once I took off, for a circuit, I came back round and the airport was in the water!! It seemed to move in a really peculiar way in comparison with my position, and was incredibly hard to land at. I don't know if I was actually crabbing on the way in, but it looked like I was crabbing to the right on approach, but the winds were calm.Has anyone else encountered this? Or do you, if you haven't been there?I was wondering if it's one of the many hidden FS9 bugs, or a problem with the AFCAD file...

Hi,It's an FS9 bug. All airports very close to the North Pole will display such behavior. I've seen it in Greenland too.Hope this helps,
Ah, I see. That'd be one of the things I thought it was. Very annoying!!! I wanted to fly in and out of Svalbard alot, because it has some nice scenery, but this has ruined it!
