August 5, 200916 yr I've played with this for about a year now, and posted over on the A2A forums, only to be ignored. I really love the way the lights look in FSX, but my enjoment could be so much more if the langing gear light would just go off when I raise the gear, or even if the landing lights would stay on without having the gear down and locked. I've read the tutorials, searched out the fixes, and so far the only plane that does work for me, is the Baron 58, and with that I had to use an installer fix to make the lights work corectly. They do not work right anywhere else.So I appeal to the AVSim community, to see if anyone here can shed light on this fantastic issue. Below, is a direct quote from my post on the A2A support forums over a year ago. Hello! Sorry, this has been a little while since the last post here, but it's the most relevant spot for this.As prescribed above, I went through the steps to resolve the gear light problem, and have my 747 gear light turn off when the gear was retracted. Unfortunately, after spending about 2 hours with trial and error using the techniques described above, I still cannot get this to work right. My light remains on when I pull the gear up. I don't know if it's me still not seeing this right, or there's a setting I missed, but here are some examples of what I am facing...The landing and taxi lights DO work independently, but only when I touched the switches in the cockpit. My issue is getting the taxi gear lights to shut off when I raise the gear. NOTE: Since I have re-installed FSX and the utility, this is now default settings for 3D reduxHere's the relevant parts of the PANEL.cfg and AIRCRAFT.cfg from my copy. Everything looks as it should, so I don't understand what's going on. If one of those amazing people above that got this to work could point out what I'm doing wrong, I would be greatly appreciative.PANEL:[VCockpit01]size_mm=512,512pixel_size=512,512texture=$747_1background_color=0,0,0gauge00=Boeing747-400!Standby Altimeter, 0, 113, 111, 101gauge01=Boeing747-400!Standby Airspeed Indicator, 112, 114, 111, 110gauge02=Boeing747-400!Standby Attitude Indicator, 113, 1, 111, 111gauge03=Boeing747-400!Primary Flight Display, 6, 234, 243, 267gauge04=Boeing747-400!Multi-Function Display, 286, 259, 224, 252gauge05=Boeing747-400!Clock, 1, 1, 113, 113gauge06=Boeing747-400!EICAS Display, 286, 2, 224, 252gauge07=Magnetic_Compass!Magnetic-Compass,225, 166, 60, 59gauge08=Boeing747-400!Autopilot IAS-Mach Window, 233, 0, 45, 15gauge09=Boeing747-400!Autopilot VS Window, 226, 15, 59, 16gauge10=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Heading Window, 233, 31, 45, 15gauge11=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Altitude Window, 226, 47, 59, 16gauge12=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Hdg Switch, 259, 253, 25, 29gauge13=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Localizer Switch, 256, 64, 29, 30gauge14=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Approach Switch, 226, 96, 29, 29gauge15=Boeing747-400!Autopilot VS Switch,256, 96, 29, 29gauge16=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Nav Switch, 226, 126, 29, 29gauge17=Boeing747-400!Autopilot IAS-Mach Switch, 256, 126, 29, 30gauge18=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Speed Switch, 257, 285, 29, 29gauge19=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Altitude Hold Switch, 226, 64, 29, 30gauge20=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Master Switch, 259, 227, 25, 24gauge21=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light AIRCRAFT: [LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing light.1 = 3, -223.85, 0.00, 8.85, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l ,light.2 = 2, -228.97, 0.00, 44.62, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,light.3 = 1, -45.05, 0.00, 15.65, fx_shockwave_beaconh ,light.4 = 1, -80.22, 0.00, -11.05, fx_shockwave_beaconb ,light.5 = 4, -18.24, 0.00, 11.19, fx_shockwave_vclight_l,light.6 = 6, -20.0, 0.0, -11.5, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_747_nose // Shockwave lightlight.7 = 5, -71.0, 18.0, -4.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_747_rw // Shockwave lightlight.8 = 5, -71.0, -18.0, -4.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_747_lw // Shockwave lightlight.9 = 5, -40.0, 0, -20, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light_l, So... any ideas guys? August 6, 200916 yr Author Thank you PDPilot. Hmm, ok. Tried that and nothing improved. Some of the lights look better, but that's about it. I did read on their forums that long tutorial on coding this manually, as evidenced in my first post, and I re-read it again lost night, to no avail. But, my friend got a copy of REx on his pc, and I've been having fun tinkering with that. Kept my mind off this Any other ideas?
August 7, 200916 yr It appears that there are some lights that cannot be controlled by Shockwave entries in the aircraft.cfg file or the panel.cfg file because these lights are in the aircraft's model file. While the Shockwave entries work as expected with the Baron, there is a nose gear landing light on the 737 that is not defined in the aircraft.cfg file. You can include a Shockwave taxi light on the nose gear in the aircraft.cfg file that will display over the existing light and it will be controlled as expected. But, turn off the taxi light with the landing lights on and the existing landing light will still be illuminated. I assume the 747 is the same. There are also navagation lights on some aircraft that, I believe, are part of the model file and cannot be changed. Art
August 7, 200916 yr Sorry, solowingdemon. I don't know of any other solutions. I haven't tested all aircraft with the new 3D Shockwave update, so there may still be aircraft that aren't fixed. Before the update, I had to manually cut off the nose wheel light (SHIFT+L, or CTRL + L...I can't remember which one) while retracting it so it looked authentic.
