Start up weather - ASX

Featured Replies

I have been using FSX and ASX for a while now and I am starting to get angry about such a small bug. When I first start FSX I load the aircraft (pmdg MD11 normally) the airport (half the time LHR, London Heathrow 2008) and the date, always historical, normally around a month behind the current date. I then load the flight. I then start ASX - letting it run through all its initialisation processes. When I check the airport (I loaded) weather it does not agree with that, that ASX says should be loaded. It happens no matter which airport I load, nor aircraft...I find that sometimes I can almost force FSX's weather to update to that of ASX - but this can sometimes take 30 minutes, or when its being really stubborn I have to wait until the top of the hour.Does anyone else have this issue? It just makes me so angry that I load everything up and the weather showing in FSX has nothing to do with what ASX says it should be. It does change, but I am not sure what to - where it's getting the weather data from, it's not what ASX is saying it should be and FSX does not download any weather its self.Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for me?Many Thanks

Hi,Explanation: When you save a flight in FS the weather conditions are also saved in a small weather file. This is true no matter what you are using for weather. So when you start that flight the same old weather is loaded with the flight.Solution: Start AS first and then FS. AS will clear the weather and then inject weather data into FS. No need to refresh or wait until AS updates. Thanks,

That sounds great but I am never going to be using the weather from today - for example I am currently lagging behind on the flying, and am flying flights I set out for 19/July/09...Im guessing there is a way of setting the time etc in ASX, then start FSX and get going...Thanks for your help, I had no clue about the weather information, I thought as I started a new flight each time (never loading a saved flight) the weather would also be 'fresh' as well... I always do the 'free flight' option not the loading of where I left it last...Thanks for your help sugerKimberly

Hi,What you need to do is download the historical weather files you need, set ASX and FSX to use Sim time and in ASX set to Historical date and time and click on the Apply button. Then if you match this up in FSX you can get historical conditions. Thanks,
