June 6, 200323 yr I can't get Mike Stone's FH27 to go any faster that 210knts, and that is usually with full throttle. Varying altitudes, fuel load, etc., still unable to gain higher speed.Anybody have any ideas, any tweaks, I might be able to change for improved performance?ThanksJack
June 6, 200323 yr Hi,Considering that the maximum allowable operating speed for the F-27 is 224 kts (never exceed is 254 kts), 210 kts isn't too bad. As I remember, they usually flew at 180-200 kts in cruise.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
June 6, 200323 yr Hi Tom,Thanks for the information. The documentation that came with the FH-27 showed a cruise speed of 315 knts, which I thought was a bit high. Do you know if the FH-27 was capable of thrust reverse?Tom, thanks a lot for the great DC-7's. Any new projects you are working on?Jack
June 7, 200323 yr No reverse on the F-27, the Rolls Royce Dart was never equipped with a reversible prop on any airframe. Big, old, gutless engines. In fact, it was the first commercial turboprop engine, entering service waaay back in the late 1950s, and is still in service in many counties today. I get to play with them every day I go to work! :)
