August 13, 200916 yr Well, I had much better results with X-Plane tonight and tuned settings for much better framerates. It seems that the world distance setting made the big difference. Is there any documentation for each specific plane? For example, in the Cessna 172, I wanted to set the vertical speed or the altitude. The altitude chapter in the downloaded manual seems more a general explanation for all autopilots such as in the larger jets. (Flight Level Change, etc.) The manual in the X-Plane folder is pretty much the same but with no pictures and illustrations Also, I wanted to learn more about the Garmin. (Can it be enlarged? It is difficult to read as a panel gauge.) Thanks. Regards, Tom

Regards, TomHmm, just replied to your other thread :) Good to hear you're getting better results. As to the stock C172, the autopilot is...err...unusual :/ The only way I know of to set the vertical speed is to start to climb/descend and hit the VS button. It will then attempt to hold the rate of ascent/descent at the moment you pressed the button. IIRC you set the altitude the same way - get to the altitude and hit the ALT button. Just to be annoying X-Plane has a tendency to remember this altitude as a preset level next time around :(As to the Garmin, it's VERY limited in function compared to either the real thing or the MSFS version. At present, the only option I know of for a realistic Garmin seems to be the RealityXP product (PC Only so I have no personal experience). You can zoom in on the panel gauge if you're using the 3-D cockpit (cursor keys and =(+)/- keys) but there is no option as standard to 'pop-up' as in MSFS.Have funSetanta
