AI Parking Assignments

Recommended Posts

Hi there,Is there any way to allow smaller AI aircraft to park at gates using AFCAD. I'm trying to populate my home airport (MYNN) with visiting airlines which usually park at the gates regardless of size (e.g. ATRs (American Eagle) and Beechcraft 1900Ds ( Continental Connection ). However, after landing, they are usually parked at the ramps on the domestic section, which is a bit unrealistic. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks for any helpJ.C.(MYNN)

AFCAD allows you to re-size and re-order parking spaces. An aircraft will go to the first parking space it will fit in. So, a Cessna 172 should go to the first Ramp GA Small spot. If all the Ramp GA Small's are already occupied, it will bump up and search the Ramp GA Mediums, etc. Take a look at the airports in question. Under "Lists," pull down the Parking window. There you will see all the parking spaces, along with their order of preference. You can re-order the spaces by dragging them around this window. The next problem is setting the aircraft radius appropriately. AITM (AI Traffic Mover) has a section under Tools for Aircraft Editor. This will allow you to change the size of your aircraft so they will go to the "right-sized" gates. I suspect that the ATR's and Beech 1900's have fairly small radius values, and they are fitting into the GA parking spaces.AFCAD has an option to display all parameters in Metric units. If you turn this on and look at a parking space's properties, you will see the radius associated with that spot (in meters.) Compare this with the radius listed for the aircraft in AITM's editor (also in meters.) The aircraft radius should be just a bit less than the parking space radius. This whole thing is the basis for Project AI's RAFCAD (Radiused AFCAD) program. Here, all aircraft are assigned radii based on their airline and aircraft class (Regional, Domestic, Heavy.) All parking spaces are then set up appropriately, and the planes all end up at the right gate, or at the GA ramp, or at the cargo terminal. It's a bit of work to set up, but once you've got it you'll find all the aircraft really behave much better on the ground.
