August 15, 200916 yr I've recently fell inlove with fsx even though its shortcoming, the low FPS being the major one.Anyhow, i have 2 things that annoys me and i was wondering if you kind sirs have any idea how to solve them1) is there anyway to make FSX (the game not the main menu) open in a window and not in full screen, regardless to the state it was closed in ? for example if i fly in window mode (not full screen) and then i exit, and then i load it up again... the game runs in window'ed mode. however if i fly in full screen, exit the game and then run it again, it runs in full screen.I want it to ALWAYS load the game in window mode. is it possible please ?2) secondly, how can i get rid of that annoying menu bar from always appearing... i want it to act like it did in fs9 where it would only appear when i press the ALT key... is it possible ??Thanks for your answers,Paul.
August 15, 200916 yr Hi Paul.1) As far as I'm aware, the only way to ensure FSX always opens in windowed mode, is to exit FSX while it is in windowed mode. I may be wrong though.2) TO get rid of the menu bar, hold down ALT, and it will disappear. August 15, 200916 yr 1. Make a shortcut to FSX.cfg on your desktop. Before you start FSX, open it and make sure Maximixed=0 (and not 1) and the game will load in windowed mode. If you left the game in windowed mode, it will be 0 already, of course, but whenever you forgot to change to windowed mode or aren't sure how you left FSX, this is the easiest way to get things done. I do this every now and then because sometimes I want to do something else on the computer when a flight is loading (like typing this post ;) ), and you can only do that when the sim loads in windowed mode. Checking and editing or course takes time (a few seconds) but it's better than just having to wait a few minutes for a flight to load and not being able to do anything else...2. As flilotUK said, the menu bar will only disappear when holding the alt-key: I also wish it would go away automatically, but that's just not possible,EDIT:I just thought of this: if you like your settings and never change them (ingame or directly in the cfg) you could also copy the cfg somewhere (with Maximized=0) and than make a .bat-file that copies that copied cfg back to where it belongs. This way you only have to click that .bat-file before you startup FSX. That will only take a fraction of a second. ;) Come to think of it, I have several saved cfg files (saved in FSX) and switch between them every now and then (depending on where I am flying and what scenery I use), but this also could be done by creating several FSX.cfg and making a few bat files that copies the cfg I need into the right place...
