FS9 Virtual Cockpit very dark

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,Would be very happy if someone could help me.I cant remember if my virtual cockpit has always been as dark as it is now or I have pressed come combination of buttons that has caused it. The problem is that all the instruments are very dim and difficult to read.I did a complete reinstall of FS9 but the problem is still there.I am only flying the 172 Skyhawk but I have checked and it is the same with other aircraft. It is a bit of a shame as I recently bought Flight1 Cessna 172r and the much praised VC is ruined.Am I as dim as my lights? Thanks for any advice.Chris

Chris,Check first that this line is in the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg:light.5 = 4, -2.27, 0.00, 1.45, fx_vclightalthough this might not be the problem as you say all your VCs are dark. Another thing to look for then, is to make sure that the hardware rendered lights setting is on 8, or as far right as it will go (settings/display/hardware) - default is 4 which sometimes inhibits lights showing. See if this helps.;)

Thanks for the try!In the last few days of scouring the web for solutions I had seen the bit about changing the Aircraft.cfg file. For the Flight1 172r it is light.6 as they have another nav light in and I have changed it//(Original Config): light.6 = 4, -0.0, -0.85, 2, fx_172vclightlight.6 = 4, -2.27, 0.00, 1.05, fx_172vclightbut it makes no difference. And as you mentioned it is the same for every aircraft. My hardware rendered lights was set a little low so I moved it fully right but still no change. Not sure about the rules on this forum concerning attachments, but I was trying to attach a word doc showing what I get and what I am supposed to get but it would not let me upload the file.Strange thing is that the "outside" light intensity is the same in both cockpit and VC.
