August 22, 200916 yr Hello everyone,Over the past few years I've been flying the Wilco Airbus (mainly A320), generally with much satisfaction (apart from the odd sudden engagement of the TOGA lock). What keeps me puzzled is the approach speed of this bird. The relevant page in the FCDU shows the VAPP, generally around 134 kts. One would assume that this is a calculated (advisory) speed, based on weight, wind data, temperature etc. However, when I use this speed on finals, it often appears too low. If on the other hand this speed is to be regarded as a reference speed, to which 50% of the head wind component should be added, the speed on finals frequently seems a bit too high. I would very much appreciate any comments/'wisdom' on this subject.Regards,Ren René Bongers
