August 28, 200916 yr Hi guysThis question I am about to post is not related to how to create a scenery but more of how does FS creates them for our eyes to see.Being with FS for so many years have lead to to take it for granted the vast terrain and scenery we see in the simulation. Sometimes, we tend to focus so much on the aircraft we fly within the system that we forget that what is shown outside our simulated cockpit is also equally as hard or in same cases, harder to build than a nice add-on aircraft. So what makes FS scenary works? How does it ensure such a smooth transition of scenery when we fly from one corner of the earth to another? How is the terrain and scenery mapped within FS? Maybe someone can help me clear my mind on this :)
August 28, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi,The presentation you can find here gives a nice overview of how the scenery engine works. It has been made by the ACES team a few years ago.
