September 9, 200916 yr Hello all,I've been watching for the J41 release and see here most people are pretty happy with it. It sounds like a great mix of technology and need for pilot skill, which sounds very good to me. (I have the MD-11 and love it, but have gotten rather lazy with all the automation available...) My question is, how much of the GNS/XLS is modeled in the sim? I've downloaded the RL manual and simulator from Honeywell (GNS/XLS Simulator) and think it would be very nice in an FSX plane, where I can have the FMS run LNAV plans, holds, etc. but just advisory info on climbs & descents, but:1. How complete are the plan pages and calculations?2. Can you set up custom and offset waypoints?3. Can you insert and let the FMS direct the FD/AP to fly a hold? If so, how does it do?4. Can you access the waypoint information pages?I may be spoiled by earlier PMDG offerings, notably the MD-11 with its rich and complete FMS, but am hoping for the same degree of completeness and fidelity - does the J41 deliver in this regard? The J41 AOM section on the FMS is a bit sparse, but that's OK if I can use teh real world manual to figure out how to use it instead. Thanks!
September 9, 200916 yr Everything is there but be aware that the hold switch isn't working.OK, sounds promising, and thanks for the reply. Is the non-functional Hold button a temporary glitch, or is that function not likely to be implemented anytime soon?
September 9, 200916 yr Is the non-functional Hold button a temporary glitch, or is that function not likely to be implemented anytime soon?We don't really know...But since it's not a part of the SP1 we have to think it an unimplemented function...Ben
