VoxAtc x problem with Win7 rc 64bit

Featured Replies

I installed Voxatc x with vista 64bit and had no issues. I moved up to Win7 RC 64bit and it installs ok but the windows are just black. I do not see or get the enable box. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks, Ken

OK, guess I am the only one moving over to Win7.

I have found that when I install the gauge to my cirrus g20 and the LVLD767 I get the correct gauge. I checked and my panel config for the PMDG 747 is numbered correctly. I stll get the black box with out the enable box. Ken

Hi there KenI had a problem with PMDG 747 displaying a black box where to ATC menu should be with Voxatc deluxe some time ago.I contact Vox support and was supplied with a modified panel file which enabled it to work on this aircraft. If its working on Win7 64bit with these other addon's it might be worth while getting in touch with support and asking about the problem.RegardsMichael H

I am seriously considering moving to Windows 7 64-bit, so this issue is of great interest to me also.

Hi,Here's my thoughts and experiences on this.Firstly, you can get a 90-day trial version of Win 7 Enterprise (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/cc442495.aspx?ITPID=sprblog) which can be used for testing before taking the plunge with Win 7. This is the final version (as opposed to the RC); so is probably a better test.I've been using this to test, installing everything from Scratch i.e. FSX, Acceleration, etc; and the latest version of voxatc.I have completely turned off UAC, and have not installed either FSX or voxatc on the system (C:) drive.I find that I can install voxatc ok and that it works, except for the following issues:The AT&T voices do not appear to work. They install OK, but I cannot hear them in FSX (everything is the default MS Anna). I can see them in the vox atc voice selector, but when I choose to test I only hear the default Microsoft Anna voice. I've looked around and I think that they won't work in 64-bit OSs; but I've seen nothing that states this with certainty. Another poster on this forum states that they work for him on Vista 64bit. They do not work for me. There is an alternative in Cepstral voices (you can download a trial), which work well, but at $29.99 each...I have sent a message via the voxatc site about this, I'll post here if I get a reply. The other problem I have is a bit stranger. I had posted about this before when I had been trying the Win7 RC (http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=241084&hl=).I have a two-core CPU, when running FSX the first core is always at 100%, the second usually fluctuates between 0 - 80%. When it's like this voxatc is fine. However, I do get ocassions when the utilisation gets to 100% on both (it is always the fsx process by the way). On these ocassions, when I am speaking, voxatc starts to have problems, in that it doesn't recognise what I say. It's as if it there isn't any CPU resource left to process. I find this strange because this never happens to me on my usual Vista 32 install. Although I have never checked utilisation on Vista32, I am using the same detail settings, etc; and I have never had this problem - so either I was never hitting 100% (very doubtful), or I was hitting 100% and voxatc was coping with this differently.I notice there is an advanced settings voxatc program that lets you set the affinity and priority. Raising the latter and changing the former have not helped.I haven't got round to testing with the PMDG 747 yet, but I'll let you know how I get on. I'd be amazed if it didn't work though. If anyone else has managed to get this working well, or has any suggestions, please could you let me know?
